I believe that an informed public is critical to a healthy democracy. While the following books certainly do not have all the answers, I have found them useful in understanding who we are as a people, where we are as a society, where we are currently going (off a cliff) and where we can go if we merely find the will to change. They explain what in society broke, when, how, and why, from plain old political corruption to fundamental failings of human rationality itself. I encourage you to read these and share them with your friends. For even if you get something else out of them than I did, these are in my opinion a good foundation for starting a conversation about where we should go and what we should do to move forward as a society.
